Click on the Windows Start menu or its search function (a magnifying glass, if you see one) and type: control panel then press [Enter] or click on the item as shown below.
Select the Uninstall a program option as shown in the image below.
If you get an error message after the installation process is complete, it may be because you have a space in your Windows username. Try unpacking the installation file manually by following the steps below. We have written how to do this in both Windows 11 and Windows 10.
This is for Windows 11
If the path to the folder that handles "My Documents" and "Downloaded Files" etc. contains a space in your username (\Firstname_space_Password\) you need to manually unpack the installation file, otherwise an error message will appear during installation. To unzip, you can for example use WinRAR/WinZIP or preferably the easy to use and compact 7-zip: https://www.7-zip.org/
Then you can right-click on the file you downloaded and choose Show more options
Then select 7-zip followed by Unzip to "IronCAD_DCS2023SP1_SWE\
Then run the installation file itself in the new folder by right-clicking on the *.exe file and selecting Run as administrator:
This applies to Windows 10
If the path to the folder that handles "My Documents" and "Retrieved Files" etc. contains a space in your username (\Firstname_Space_Password\) you need to manually unzip the installation file, otherwise an error message will appear during installation. To unzip, you can use WinRAR/WinZIP or the easy to use and compact 7-zip: https://www.7-zip.org/
Then you can right-click on the file you downloaded and choose to unzip it into a new folder which will be created automatically.
Then run the installation file itself in the new folder by right-clicking on the *.exe file and selecting Run as administrator:
Find and click on the Swedish customization (SweCustomization) you want to uninstall, which also matches the version of IronCAD DCS you intend to uninstall. It is important to uninstall this before uninstalling IronCAD DCS, as many settings and templates may otherwise remain and it may therefore be difficult to uninstall this afterwards.
Click Uninstall and follow the uninstallation wizard that appears. Once this is uninstalled, proceed to the next step.
Go to the Windows Start menu and find the version of IronCAD DCS you want to uninstall (in this case IronCAD DCS 2022), then start Uninstall IronCAD...
Make sure that all subcomponents included in the software suite are marked as shown below.
Click Uninstall.
Let the computer do the uninstalling. When this is completed, the result should appear as shown below.
OBS! The next step that follows is not required, but in some situations you may need to go in and delete some files afterwards. This can be done via recommendation from our support or if you had a beta version installed.
So you can choose to finish the uninstallation now, but if you need or want to remove the remaining files, continue reading the guide below.
Start Windows Explorer and type this in the search field: %appdata%\CAXA (it also works to copy what we have typed and paste followed by the [Enter] key)
Now find the folders that match the version you want to uninstall - in this case it is version 2022.
You can hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard and select the folders you want to delete. Then right-click on one of the selected folders and select Delete.
Now type this in the search field: %appdata%\ironcad \ ironcad (it also works to copy what we have typed and paste followed by the Enter key)
This folder stores templates for the 3D scene ( *.ics), the 2D drawing ( *.icd), and parts lists ( *.icb), among others. It also contains XML files that manage the user interface (UI). Remember to keep a backup of your templates in a separate place, so that they are not only in this folder!
The version number of IronCAD DCS differs from the year of release, which can be somewhat confusing. The version number is counted as "year plus two". Thus:
Folders 23.0 = version 2021
24.0 = 2022
25.0 = 2023
Since it is version 2022 that we are uninstalling, we delete the 24.0 folder:
Now go back one step either by using the back button in the explorer or by pressing IronCAD as shown below. Now go to the respective folder INOVATE, DRAFT and COMPOSE (if you don't have the version number in any folder, you can ignore that folder) and delete the folder with the correct version number.
Now we will do exactly the same but under a different path. Now type this in the search field: %localappdata%\CAXA (it also works to copy what we have typed and paste followed by the Enter key)
Now find the folders that match the version you want to uninstall. In this case it is 2022. Hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard and tap on the folders you want to remove. Then right-click on one of the selected folders and select Delete.
Now type this in the search field: %localappdata%\ironcad \ ironcad (it also works to copy what we have typed and paste followed by the Enter key)
In this folder templates are saved for e.g. tables for sheet metal thicknesses (Sheet Metal Stocktbl.txt and Tooltbl.txt) and the thread tool (Annotation, Cosmetic Thread). There are also XML files that handle keyboard shortcuts. Remember to keep a backup of your sheet tables etc. in a separate place, so that they are not only in this folder!
Just like the same steps earlier, the version number of IronCAD DCS differs from the year of release, which can be somewhat confusing. The version number is counted as "year plus two". Thus:
Folders 23.0 = version 2021
24.0 = 2022
25.0 = 2023
So in this case it's 2022 we're uninstalling so we'll delete the 24.0 folder:
Now go back one step, either by pressing the back button in the Explore window or by pressing IronCAD in the search bar above, as shown below.
Now go into the respective folder \INOVATE, \IRONCAD COMPOSE and \IRONCAD DRAFT (if you don't have the version number in one of the folders, you can ignore that folder) and delete the folder with the correct version number.
Now you have uninstalled IronCAD and also cleared all leftover settings, templates and other stuff.
