The TriBall is an amazing feature in IRONCAD. You can move, copy or modify anything in 3D. Freely, lightning fast and with full precision. Replaces the need for Plan. Drag & drop finished 3D shapes, parts or entire assemblies to/from catalogs. Or use a 2D sketch and extrude into 3D - choose what works best at any given moment. Pull handles and snap to other parts, even in other assemblies, to make precise changes in seconds.
IRONCAD solves the need to create different variants of a product incredibly efficiently. Drag & drop smart parts from catalogs. These are attached together magnetically and also resize automatically depending on where you place them. Dimensions of entire assemblys are adjusted in a flash by pulling handles - done!
With IRONCAD you use Parametric Design when appropriate and Free Design in the normal case. You choose freely between both methods and switch in the same batch. Here, complete and customized solutions can be created easily and quickly!
The file management in IRONCAD is a real time saver. You can design directly in the assembly in one and the same file, whether the design consists of 1 or 10,000 parts. Link parts to external files only if and when you want. You can focus on construction instead of administration. No more creating the part in a separate file and guessing if it fits in the assembly. You can create assemblies with a mouse click in the 3D scene. True "Top - Down design"! Of course, you can also link existing files "Bottom - Up". Here, many people think that IRONCAD works so much more smoothly than in traditional solutions such as SolidWorks, Creo and Inventor.
With IRONCAD you can create geometries that cannot be done with old technology where the CAD solution only uses a solid kernel, often ACIS or Parasolid. On the other hand, you can benefit from this when modeling details in IRONCAD as shown in the movie. The different solid cores have their limitations and advantages. You can specify which core should be the default. But you can also quickly change solid kernel with the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl+K" on a Part or entire compilation afterwards!
Another great advantage is when importing 3D files from different formats such as STEP. Imported geometry is created in the solid core you have chosen as default. Sometimes the conversion can be less good and then it is really great advantage to be able to import to the other solid core as an alternative.

WoodLAB uses catalogs with smart tools that the user can easily drag-and-drop right into the 3D environment. The tools can be functions such as placing drawers in a cabinet, adding shelves, holes, hinges or doors. The catalogues are bidirectional so that you can easily save already created parts such as complete cabinets in different models. It is then very quick to create a new cabinet by pulling in an existing one and adjusting the size by pulling the handles! If you want to change from 2 drawers to 3 - a mouse click is enough! Everything follows as you modify, and the NC code for the CNC machine can be updated automatically.
You can use libraries of ready-made 3D details from e.g. Blum. You will automatically receive lists of components and material consumption so that you can easily calculate the price for the whole project.
If you want to create 2D drawings, you can do it in WoodLAB. You simply choose which 3D detail or composition you want to depict on the drawing and all the desired views are created directly.
Easily create sections and partial enlargements. The dimensioning tools are easy to use.
Everything becomes very clear to the viewer. The exploded view with its parts list facilitates assembly instructions. If you change something in the 3D model, the whole drawing including the section is updated automatically. The drawing can also be exported in PDF, DWG or DXF. IRONCAD also contains a complete 2D solution that makes it easy to manage your own and other people's DWG files.
When designing in WoodLAB , it is of course easy to see how furniture or furnishings look from different angles and positions. Not only does this help in the design phase, the 3D environment can also be used to create sales images and marketing material. Of course, it is easier for a client to say yes to a project if it is presented in a sales-oriented way.
You can apply different types of materials directly to the 3D models in the CAD environment, thus mimicking the finished solution as closely as possible. Apple uses its Metal graphics routine in newer MACs. Many programs do not work well with Metal (yet). Rhinoceros 7 may slow down as files get larger.
