AB Infjärdens Värme in Piteå

With IRONCAD , we IRONCAD better results in less time!

‍

Infjärdens Värme AB is a Swedish industrial company that offers turnkey projects and customized solutions in HVAC, industrial engineering, workshop services, and sprinkler systems. The IVAB Group currently consists of its headquarters in Piteå, with 11 branches throughout the country, as well as the subsidiaries IVAB Fastigheter, Nordtool AB, and Norrländska Industri AB (NIAB). The Group has approximately 300 employees, and its annual revenue amounts to approximately 600 MKr.

‍

It is a family-owned business that, for example, performs pipe welding and pipe installation, as well as renovating and building new storage tanks. To provide their customers with the best possible service, they use IRONCAD for everything from tank manufacturing and pressure vessels to various steel profiles.

With IRONCAD , IVAB IRONCAD :

  • Develop various proposals and solutions for industries based on specified requirements
  • Show the customer what the proposals look like and how they fit into their space
  • Manage complex and large datasets in a single file
  • Create complete manufacturing documentation, including 2D drawings and bills of materials
  • Using SheetMetal in IRONCAD sheet metal unfolding and exporting to DXF / laser
  • Create pipe assemblies using standard components from IRONCAD

See how IRONCAD's intuitive workflow speeds up the design process

Patrik Ehlin, project manager, says:

"We were looking for a 3D tool that was easier to use than the ones we had tried so far. We need to handle both small and large projects. Naturally, we don’t want to spend more time than necessary developing various designs and manufacturing documentation; saving time is a key factor, and in this regard, IRONCAD is IRONCAD a league of its own. Many steps in other programs are unnecessary and aren’t needed in IRONCAD. At the same time, there must be tools capable of handling complex shapes and large assemblies. It turned out that IRONCAD this—and then some! We’ve seen significant gains at IVAB with IRONCAD using the program for a while now.

‍

Many designs include bent sheets that need to be flattened out for laser cutting and then bent back into their final shape. Here, we use the built-in SheetMetal tools included in IRONCAD. They are both easy to use and powerful. For example, we can create conical pipe transitions with connections at various angles that are difficult to achieve without 3D. Everything can be positioned quickly using Triball in IRONCAD.

We also use IRONCAD to design tanks and cisterns. It’s easy to simply drag and drop various connections and flanges in 3D—right into the same 3D file that contains the entire assembly. Holes are then created with the correct diameter and angle, which are subsequently incorporated into the sheet metal layout.

The entire layout in IRONCAD catalogs on the side of the screen where you can drag and drop individual parts or entire assemblies in both directions, is superb.

‍

IRONCAD greater flexibility and is ideal for testing and developing various solutions

One reason is that the software offers greater flexibility and is well-suited for testing different alternative solutions. It’s one thing to simply draw something when you know exactly what it should look like from the start, but that’s rarely the case. We start with the customer’s needs and test various options before finding the best solution. This approach doesn’t work with more rigid parametric software that relies on fixed constraints and limitations. Another reason IRONCAD better is that we create many projects for the sawmill industry involving large assemblies consisting of several hundred thousand parts. This requires the software to perform well for both layout and detailed design. We might start with a 2D DWG file showing the industrial building and the conditions within the premises.

‍

100,000 parts—all in a single file in IRONCAD we want

Next, we create various part assemblies and place them in appropriate locations. We still have everything in a single file in IRONCAD. Only when solutions begin to take shape do we start linking to separate part assemblies and even Part, if we choose to. This saves a lot of time. The ability to easily reuse components via IRONCAD 3D IRONCAD is another feature we appreciate. With IRONCAD , we IRONCAD work directly in 3D in a way that feels natural and flexible. The TriBall tool and drag-and-drop from catalogs allow us to avoid getting bogged down in constraints and parameters that take time in other systems.

‍

The IRONCAD workflow IRONCAD at least 30% of the time compared to the parametric method

Overall, we estimate that the workflow in IRONCAD at least 30% of the time compared to the parametric method. That’s a significant cost savings. Just think about how many “constraints” and “mates”—the conditions required in other systems—are needed for an assembly with over 100,000 parts. It becomes impossible to keep track of all the constraints and relationships. This inevitably leads to dealing with a flood of errors and error messages. This is an outdated way of working that many struggle with, and we see that we’ve gained a clear competitive advantage with IRONCAD. We’re also very satisfied with the support receive from Solidmakarna, both during on-site visits and remotely. We use DDM our PLM solution, which is also provided by Solidmakarna,” concludes Stefan.

Shorter development times and stronger customer partnerships

Thanksto IRONCAD , Teknikresurs IRONCAD deliver faster results in mechanical design, product development, and visualization—which shortens lead times from concept to prototype and adds value to both projects and training programs. This strengthens their role as a full-service provider in technical development.
