License activation guides

Answer: IRONCAD can be activated in different ways: via software license, hardware lock (dongle), network license via software (Sentinel) or network license via dongle. IC Mechanical is activated via a license file that is included when you have an active support contract with us. When you start the program, follow the instructions for the license type you have. For software licenses, activation is quick online, while dongle and network licenses require the hardware to be connected or the client to be configured to the server.

Answer: You can install any number of instances of IRONCAD on different computers. However, software licenses can only be activated on one computer at a time, but the license can be easily moved or exported if you need to change computers. USB (dongle) licenses will only launch the program when the dongle is installed in the computer. Network licenses require the client to be in contact with the server or with a computer acting as a license server.

Answer: For software licenses, the license must be deactivated on the old computer before it can be activated on the new one. The license migration can be done via online activation or manual activation, and we recommend saving the license key and registration information. For dongles, it is sufficient to move the hardware lock to the new computer. For IC Mechanical, you only need to move the license file in Explorer to the new computer. Network licenses will work right away as long as the new computer is on the same network as the license server and the client is properly configured.

Answer: If the activation does not go through, check that you are using the correct license type and that the hardware or license file is connected correctly. For software licenses, check that the license key is correct. You can also try manual activation by contacting our support who will send you an activation code.

Answer: Yes, you need administrator privileges on the computer, as the program writes information to system files and registry entries during activation. If you do not have administrator privileges, you will need to contact the IT department or the person administering the computer.

Answer: You can activate IRONCAD and add-ons at the same time, but IC Mechanical is activated separately via the license file.

Answer: No. For IRONCAD demo versions, all you need to do is enter your e-mail address and fill in the form that appears when the program starts. This will give you access to a 30-day demo version, without a license key or dongle.
