Lämneå Bruk is a manufacturer and supplier of individual machines, complete wire production cells and even entire factories for the production of various wire materials. The company has a really long history, they started to specialize in manufacturing machines for the wire industry in 1823 and look back on more than 200 years in the business!
That Lämneå Bruk offers really competitive solutions is proven by the increasing demand from the market for their machines. They have almost swept their competitors off their feet and are receiving lots of orders. The order intake has been fantastic and the workforce has tripled in 3 years!
Most of it goes for export, both in Europe and the rest of the world. This is exactly the kind of company Sweden needs more of!
Wire processing is an industry not everyone is familiar with. But wire is used in a wide range of products, from cars and machinery to welding rods. The wire often comes to the customer from a steel mill and is delivered in coils or as a rolled-up skein. This wire is a bit like a raw material for a finished wire that can be used in manufacturing products. It first needs to be processed in various ways. This is where Lämneå Bruk's machines come in. They can take care of the wire and start by winding it onto a spool or drum for further processing in the factory's next step. This may involve stretching the wire in various stages by winding it onto spool after spool, or heat treating the wire. Here it is important not to pull too much at each stage and consideration for cooling of the material is required. The result is a smaller diameter of the wire because it is stretched. Welding wire is usually about 1 mm.
There are several treatments of wire that customers want to perform. It can be about brushing off the casting shell or treating with acid bath etc. All to achieve the right quality of the wire.
The customers they serve all have their own preferences for the design of the machines. This can be due to things like the material of the wire, the treatment of the wire and the desired end result. This means that they almost always need to modify their machines to suit the customer's wishes. It is often not possible to predict which things will be modified and in what way. Therefore, it is crucial that IRONCAD works freely with a flexible design environment. Traditional 3D solutions force the user into a locked (constraints-based) working methodology, making it very time-consuming and sometimes impossible to change in unforeseen ways. With IRONCAD Lämneå Bruk can customize for example which modules to use, how many of each, etc. Special solutions for each customer are developed easily and quickly.
In summary, Lämneå Bruk is taking advantage of IRONCAD to create customized solutions in metalworking and special machinery manufacturing. They can quickly model their products and stay open to good solutions. How many coils are needed for this process? How many "blocks" of coils do we need to put into this solution? With what force and speed should we pull the wire? These are requirements from the customer to be solved in a short time. The fact that IRONCAD can solve the need for customization and flexibility is due to the smart integrated tools to control the design and all details, both in shape and location. In this way, they can save both time and money and of course also use IRONCAD to design fixtures and production equipment.
"When we started scanning the market for a 3D CAD system that could fit our design and customization needs, we settled on IRONCAD for several reasons. Today we can say that we made an excellent choice. The program works really smoothly and we do everything from large assemblies in 3D, to detailed drawings of individual parts, quickly and easily. We can open a large assembly, break all or some external links and save these with a new name and can change freely - without worrying about other machines being modified by mistake. Then we can gradually link out sub-assemblies and parts with their own new file names as the new solution takes shape. That's great!
We also utilize the Sheet Metal module to unfold sheet metal parts. In addition to designing customized solutions, we are continuously improving our technical solutions for wire handling in general in IRONCAD. This leads, for example, to machines with the highest speed for unwinding wire available on the market - an important parameter for our customers.
We are also linked to an efficient business system that streamlines the entire design and production process for us. We have a good understanding of the different ways of working with a 3D CAD system and cannot see how we could be as efficient with any other system on the market today as we are with IRONCAD."
