Working with the correct unit of measure is essential for accuracy and efficiency in CAD design. Follow these steps to change the unit from inches to millimeters in your 3D scene in IRONCAD.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Open a new or existing 3D scene: Start IRONCAD and open a new or existing 3D scene (ICS file).
  2. Navigate to the unit settings: Go to the Common tab in the menu bar and select Units. This will open the unit settings dialog box.
  3. Change the length unit: In the dialog box, under Length Units, select Millimeters from the drop-down menu.
  4. Change the angle measurement: Under Angle Unit, select the desired unit, for example Degrees.
  5. Confirm the changes: Click OK to save your settings.

Save as new template

To keep these settings as default for future projects:

  1. Save the scene as a new template: Go to File > Save As and save the file as a new template, for example "MetricTemplate.ics".
  2. Use the template for new projects: When creating a new project, select this template to automatically use millimeters as the unit.
