Twisted rod can be purchased by the meter or as pre-cut pieces. To create such a model, it is best to use the Sweep Shape tool, which causes a 2D profile to follow a guide curve. Using the settings under Sweep Options, you can also make the 2D profile rotate a certain number of times along the guide curve.
