The Windows 11 feature Smart App Control is designed to protect your computer by, among other things, controlling which programs are allowed to run. The feature uses, among other things, Microsoft's cloud-based security assessments and Windows code integrity features.

In some cases, Smart App Control may also affect programs such as IRONCAD and its associated components. We therefore recommend that Smart App Control be disabled on computers where IRONCAD is used.

One issue that some users have encountered is that an error message appears when launching IRONCAD, which may look like this:

Here's how to turn off Smart App Control

  1. Open Settings in Windows.
  2. Go to Privacy and Security → Windows Security.
  3. Click " App and Browser Control."
  4. Select "Smart App Control Settings."
  5. Select " Off."
