Background
Windows can use a comma or a period as the primary decimal character for the system. Some functions and tables in various Windows programs use a predefined decimal point, which means that the setting set in Windows is the one that "applies", while other programs "understand" that a value uses decimal regardless of what decimal point is actually written in a table or function pane.
There are a few different functions in IRONCAD where a "wrong" setting in Windows breaks a certain function. Some examples of this are the sheet metal tables and 3D curves (helix and formula curve). But also the import function and some functions in the 2D drawing can be affected by Windows using a different decimal than what that particular function/table in IRONCAD uses.
There are also some programs that automatically change the decimal point in Windows when it is started, so that it will be "right" for that particular program, which in turn can mess up other programs. Therefore, you may sometimes need to check which decimal point is currently used in Windows.
How to change decimal points via Control Panel in Windows
To change decimal points in Windows, you need to start Control Panel (we use the older version here) and change the National settings.
OBS! Be sure to close IRONCAD and/or the programs that will be affected by this. Alternatively, restart the program after the change has been made.
The options can be displayed either broken down by Category or Small/Large icons. Click on Change date, time, or number format (if Category) or on National settings (if Icons).
Then click on the Additional settings button.
Delete the value for Decimal and type the character [ , ] comma or [ . ] period that you want to use.
So, now we can get to the point with this issue!
