IRONCAD offers powerful tools for creating 3D models, and one of the most basic functions is to extrude 2D sketched profiles into 3D geometries.

What is Extrude Wizard?

The Extrude Wizard is a user-friendly tool in IRONCAD that guides the user through the process of extruding a 2D sketch into a 3D shape. By defining a sketch and then entering extrusion parameters such as length and direction, the user can quickly create 3D geometries from simple 2D profiles.

Sketch basics (Cross section)

Before extrusion, a 2D sketch (or cross-section) must be created. This involves defining a profile in a 2D plane, which can then be used to create 3D geometries by extrusion. A carefully defined sketch is essential to achieve the desired 3D results.

Step-by-Step: Creating an Extruded Mold

  1. Create a New Sketch: Start by defining a 2D profile in a plane.
  2. Use Extrude Wizard: Select the created sketch and activate Extrude Wizard.
  3. Define Extrusion Parameters: Specify the length, direction and any other parameters of the extrusion.
  4. Finalize the extrusion: Confirm and create the 3D shape based on the initial sketch.
