The Spin Wizard in IRONCAD is a powerful tool that allows you to create rotationally symmetrical 3D shapes from 2D profiles. This is particularly useful when you need to create objects that are circularly symmetrical, such as bottles, wheels or pipe fittings.

What is Spin Wizard?

The Spin Wizard guides the user through the process of creating a 3D shape by defining a 2D profile and an axis of rotation. By specifying the angle of rotation and other parameters, you can create a 3D shape that is symmetrical around an axis.

How to use the Spin Wizard?

  1. Create a 2D profile: Start by creating the 2D profile to be used for the spinning. This can be a line, an arc or another shape.
  2. Define the axis of rotation: Decide where the axis of rotation will be. This can be an existing axis in your model or a new axis that you define.
  3. Activate the Spin Wizard: Select the Spin Wizard from the toolbar in IRONCAD. The program will guide you through the process of selecting your 2D profile and defining the rotation parameters.
  4. Adjust parameters: During spinning, you can adjust various parameters, such as the angle of rotation, direction and whether you want to create a solid or surface.
  5. Finalize and fine-tune: Once spinning is complete, you can fine-tune the created shape by using other tools in IRONCAD, such as fillet, chamfer or boolean operations.

Benefits of using Spin Wizard

  • Create rotationally symmetrical shapes: Enables the creation of objects that are circularly symmetrical, which is common in many technical and industrial design projects.
  • Efficiency: Automates part of the design process, saving time and reducing the risk of errors.
  • Flexibility: Adjusting parameters allows you to quickly change and experiment with different design options.
