IRONCAD's conical sheet metal feature Conic Stock provides users with a quick method to create a conical shape in sheet metal by simply dragging and dropping it into the 3D environment and pulling handles - specifying the top/bottom radius and height. This works well for most occasions when you need to produce a conical sheet.
However, there are times when you don't know the second radius value and need to use trigonometry to calculate it based on the first radius as well as the height and angle.
The image below shows the values that users need to know:

You may only know Radius1, Height and Angle. To get the value of Radius2 requires a trigonometric calculation of a triangle by (Tan (Angle) * Height) + Radius1 = Radius2. Similarly, if you had Radius2 and needed to calculate Radius1, then the formula is: Radius2 - (Tan (Angle) * Height).
To do this in a quick and easy way, you can download an MS Excel spreadsheet where you can input the variables to get the radius you need.
Open the document in Excel, input known values. Copy the result and paste the value into IRONCAD's conical plate handle(Edit radius) to save time.
Download the MS Excel document here
NOTE! If you are unable to enter the radius for a handle on a Conic Stock (the menu is missing the Edit radius option), it may be because you have opened a 2D drawing with CAXA DRAFT. This is a known bug and we hope there will be a solution to this as soon as possible. Restart IRONCAD and the menu and options on the plate will work again.
