What is the easiest way to move settings between different versions of IronCAD DCS? The add-on IC Mechanical has a lot of tools even outside IRONCAD (accessed via Start>IronCAD Mechanical ) that are worth looking at but in this post we will focus on IPROSettings and Migrate IronCAD Settings. As well as why you shouldn't use Load/Export in Options between different versions.
These settings can be moved with the Migrate IronCAD Settings tool:
Catalogs - All catalogs that were opened in the previous version
Template Default Directory - The default path for your templates
Sheet Metal Tables (not recommended between v2021 and2022) - See action here
Sheet Metal Settings - Settings made for Sheet Metal(e.g. the paths to the Sheet Tables)
Recently Opened Files - The most recently opened files in the previous version
ShortCut Data Files - the XML files that control the keyboard shortcuts
Start by closing IRONCAD.
Then go to Start>IPROSettings and go to the Migratetab IronCAD Settings
Then select the version you want to migrate from(e.g. v2021)
Now choose which settings you want to migrate
Now choose to which version(latest installed version, in this case v2022)
Then press Copy(no message will appear)
Then start the latest installed version of IRONCAD that you have on your computer and check your migrated settings
Done!

Under Options in IRONCAD you have an Export and Load function which allows you to export the general settings and then load them again. What is very important to know is that this does not work between different versions. Instead, read about our recommended settings here: Recommended settings
TheExport and Load function is only made to work between the same version. For example, if you are doing a reinstallation or are going to do an installation of the same version on several different computers.
Options can be found most quickly via this icon in the Quick Access Toolbar at the top of the program.

Via the Load and Export buttons at the bottom left of the Options window, you can Save and Open the settings you have made. This way you can easily restore or load the settings on another computer.
