A part need to be divided into several different parties, or there may be several different parties that need to be merged into a single part. There are several different ways of doing this, which are suitable for different situations.

1) Copy/Paste "AB" to be "A" and "B"

Copy the part and paste it again—then delete one half in one copy and the other half in the other copy. Simple and works every time!

2) IC Mech Split IntelliShapes

The add-on IronCAD Mechanical has an easy-to-use tool called Split IntelliShape. However, it has a limitation in that modification features (such as Blend or Chamfer) cannot be transferred to the new part. This is because these features are linked to an "ID number" for an edge line or surface that will not match exactly for the completely new part.

Options 1 and 2 are shown in this video:

3) Share part catalog

Select the features that are to become a separate part drag them to a catalog. Then drag them out into space again—a new part automatically!

4) Split Part

Under the tab Feature , you will find the command Split Part. However, it is limited to a "Block volume". Easy to use, but somewhat limited in its function. Everything inside the block becomes one part everything outside becomes another part.
