For industrial services, it is often a "one-off" solution/design that needs to be developed as quickly and easily as possible. Replacing a broken engine mount or conveyor belt. Alternatively, an improved solution. The detour via parametric design is not suitable at all. Here, IRONCAD saves IRONCAD of time through flexible design with Drag and Drop in 3D directly into a compilation without having to save parts to separate files. Time is important when it comes to keeping downtime as short as possible.
IC Mechanical an add-on to IRONCAD is a multifaceted toolbox that meets your needs for various standard components in 3D. Another advantage is IRONCAD's 3D library with beams, pipes, screw connections, ball bearings, packing boxes, lock rings, and more, which can be quickly dragged and dropped into the 3D assembly.
IRONCAD a wide range of file formats, including STEP, IGES, and scan files. Modify them directly in 3D—add reinforcements, holes, milling, or customize for repair—with or without history, no rebuild hassle. Reuse standard profiles, hinges, and platform elements with Drag-and-Drop from catalogs in seconds. Everything is saved in a single file for easy management of large service projects. Generate 2D drawings with automatic parts lists. Design 3 times faster – what is that worth to you when downtime costs thousands of dollars per hour?
With IRONCAD built-in Steel Stairs tool in Mechanical IC Mechanical, you can draw a complete steel staircase directly in the 3D scene. Set dimensions, stringers, steps, and landings via a simple dialog box—all parametric and with real-time preview. Customize profiles, save your own variants in the library, and avoid hours of manual modeling. Perfect for industrial services when you need to quickly design stairs, mezzanine floors, or escape routes—from idea to drawing in no time.

Once your 3D design is complete, you can quickly generate associated 2D views directly in IRONCAD. For assemblies, an automatic bill of materials (BOM) is created with all the components included. Individual details are easily dimensioned according to ISO standards, including tolerances, to produce complete manufacturing documentation. When changes are made to the 3D model, the drawing is automatically updated and remains synchronized. Everything is saved as a PDF and can be exported to DWG or DXF for easy sharing and further processing.
Magnus Andersson, Production Technician at Saltängens Mekaniska Verkstad AB, explains:
IRONCAD is a flexible tool for us where we can design and produce manufacturing documentation for our production quickly and easily. In addition, it gives us the opportunity to visually present different solutions to our customers. We are very pleased with the fast and good support we get from Solidmakarna."

IRONCAD is built for design-intensive industries where you often work with large assemblies, sheet metal, hydraulics, layouts or special machines. You can drag and drop finished components from catalogs, change entire machines in seconds, and switch freely between 2D and 3D environments - perfect for automation, sheet metal bending, construction machinery, hydraulic systems, layout planning, construction forging, and packaging design.
Our basic training is 2 + 2 days (4 days in total). Already after the first two days, most designers are fully productive on basic 3D modeling and assembly. The final two days focus on advanced features, catalog management and your own projects.
Yes - we supply ready-made basic templates and catalogue structures that you can easily customize yourself with your own standard components, beam profiles, hydraulic hoses, sheet metal parts or packaging standards. It only takes a few minutes to fill up with your items and you save a lot of time in the future.
Absolutely. With our Translator, you can open, edit and save files from other CAD systems without losing geometry.
Extremely powerful. You can manage tens of thousands of parts in the same file, move entire machines or factory layouts with a single click and see everything in real time - perfect for layout, construction machinery and automation projects.
Sheet metal bending and layout is included in the basic version of IRONCAD - you get sheet metal layout, bending lines and accurate fabrication data instantly. For construction forging, powerful beam and profile tools and hole tables are included in IC Mechanical.
Yes - all our support and training is in Swedish and we have extensive experience in automation, sheet metal bending, hydraulics, construction and packaging. You get answers quickly.
Of course we do. We always provide a free trial license (30-60 days) with your own drawings and layouts so you can see exactly how much time you save before you decide.
