IronCAD has accelerated its release cycle and has already released version 2027 of its product suite IronCAD Collaboration Suite!

Among the new features, we can highlight simplified camera control with a visual rotation center displayed on the screen, as well as additional camera commands available directly via mouse buttons. Additionally, the TriBall can be moved by "dragging the center point" without needing to snap to geometry, which provides a smoother experience when moving the TriBall using the center point.
A major focus is the ongoing work to integrate Python coding with the open API and to link it to its “ChatGPT-based” AI interface, which can now answer questions and create or assemble 3D models from or to catalogs, as well as build these in the 3D scene and automate 2D drawings. For those with standardized and parameter-driven products, there are thus significant opportunities to speed up repeatable functions and tasks. However, the majority of IRONCAD users primarily work with “one-off” and bespoke designs, so these AI tools are not yet fully adapted for that type of CAD work.
In terms of import and export, the 3MF format has been added—a modern and welcome addition to the older STL format, specifically designed for 3D printing. You can also include more metadata when importing via the Parasolid or ACIS formats, and imported geometry (BRep data) can now be automatically converted into features using the new Feature Recognition command—an addition to the ability to modify only selected surfaces in the 3D model, regardless of the file’s origin, as long as the model is watertight/solid. The IronCAD Translator has been updated to read the latest versions of 3D files from other 3D CAD systems.
As you probably know, IRONCAD has two parallel 2D drafting environments: "IronCAD Drawing" and “CAXA Draft" where they continue to work on automation features linked to the Bulk Drawing Creation tool, as well as important improvements to existing tools such as dimensioning and text management. There are now more template settings that simplify the process and save time upfront, allowing you to control the appearance of your 2D drawing in more ways.
We recommend that you wait with installing v2027 until we have a customized installation file that adjusts settings in Options, installs more directories, and provides better templates, for example.
We aim to have it ready after the summer break and will keep you updated on this. It will be a great start to the fall, and a first service pack will likely be available around the same time. Of course, we’ll be hosting webinars to walk you through the most useful new features.
