Can't you place a logo/image on a 2D drawing via drag and drop from the explorer?

Some users encounter problems when trying to drag and drop a logo or image directly from Explorer onto a 2D drawing in IRONCAD. When this happens, a prohibition sign often appears at the mouse cursor, making it impossible to place the image on the drawing template.

Why does the problem occur?

The problem often occurs if IRONCAD is run as an administrator. When running the program with administrative rights, Windows may restrict certain features, such as drag-and-drop between Explorer and the IRONCAD drawing environment. This is a security feature of Windows and affects how the program accesses files outside its own workspace.

How to fix it

To be able to place logos and images via drag and drop, you can do the following:

  1. Check the start-up option:
    • Right-click on the IRONCAD desktop icon or via the Start menu.
    • Check that "Run as administrator" is not checked.
  2. Change the properties of the program:
    • Right-click on the icon → Properties → Advanced.
    • Uncheck the Run as administrator option.

After this, the drag-and-drop function should work as expected and you can place logos directly on your 2D drawings.

Tips

  • If you need administrative rights for other functions, start IRONCAD as administrator only if necessary, otherwise the program runs normally.
  • Make sure the image or logo is in a folder where you have full access.

This guide ensures that you can work smoothly with logos and images in your 2D drawings without Windows limitations holding you back.
