Sometimes when you have installed a new version or installed a program that has the same file type as . IRONCAD you may lose the file association to IRONCAD. The latter can happen if you have installed Outlook after IRONCAD, as *.ics is the file type for IRONCAD's 3D scene and Outlook calendar file.
Or that when you double-click on a *.stp file, for example, it opens a COMPOSE or a previous version of IRONCAD opens if you double-click on a IRONCAD file. This post goes through a few different ways you can fix this.
You use this method so that the *.ics files are associated with the correct version. Start by closing IRONCAD. Go to the Windows start menu and then scroll down to IronCAD Mechanical >IPROSettings.
Then go to the Utils>Choose you IronCAD application tab and select from the dropdown menu the version of IRONCAD you want to associate with.
Then press Apply
Followed by Ok
Velvet Ok
When you now double-click on a IRONCAD file, the correct version of IRONCAD should be started. If the above does not work and for example 3D files are still associated with Outlook Calendar files, you can follow the next step as this method works both for the Outlook Calendar problem and if *.stp files are associated with COMPOSE.
Sometimes you still need to force the file association via Windows if the IPROSettings tool does not work correctly. In the example movie above we show how to change the association from Outlook Calendar to IRONCAD 3D scene but this method also works if *.stp files are associated with COMPOSE. Right-click on the file that is associated incorrectly and select Open with>Select another folder
First tick the Always use this app to open .ics files checkbox, then tap More apps
Scroll to the bottom of the list and then tap Search for another app on this computer.
Now browse to this *path: C:\Program Files\IronCAD\*OUTPUT*\bin then select IRONCAD.exe and press Open....
* Replace *ISSUE* with the version you want to associate with. Click here to see an example of how to do this.
Now it should be ready. Every time you click on the file, you should associate that file with IRONCAD.
Hope this post answered your questions!
