Introduction to Sheet Metal

Watch our introductory video that gives a quick overview of Sheet Metal in IRONCAD. Discover how you can easily create and bend sheet metal parts in 3D, expand and export finished DXF files for production - quickly, smoothly and accurately.

Plates via Drag-And-Drop from catalogs

Using the catalogs in IRONCAD , you can easily build up sheet metal details in the scene. Basic shapes, bends, holes and deformations are easily placed on your sheet metal via Drag-And-Drop. Then you can customize these with your own dimensions and parameters.

...or work in expanded mode via Sketched Bend

IRONCAD offers several flexible methods for creating bends in sheet metal. Using the Sketched Bend feature, you can work from 2D sketches, draw bend lines directly on the sheet metal, and freely adjust the angle, radius, and placement with handles in the 3D environment.

The sheet metal table provides precise control over your sheet metal parts

With the sheet metal table in IRONCAD , you can easily define material thickness, bending radii and k-factors for each sheet metal part. You can easily adjust values directly in the table, and the changes are automatically updated in both the 3D model and the 2D drawing.

Face To DXF - export surfaces directly from the 3D model

Face To DXF in IRONCAD lets you quickly export one or more surfaces from the 3D model directly to DXF. You don't have to go through a 2D drawing and instead get a convenient shortcut to production-ready files in 1:1 scale. The function lets you choose exactly which surfaces to export and gives you full control over the result - perfect for laser cutting, punching or other sheet metal preparation.
